Anathema vs. My Dying Bride vs. Paradise Lost

Well here are the big three doomsters out of the UK. Over the years their sound has changed a bit (i.e. Paradise Lost uses more electronics nowadays), but still who do you like more?

Each one has pushed the extrems of aggressive music combining the best of this genre,however i can submit my choice with a flicker of smile....my dying bride is the best!

Well I was definetly waiting to see who you chose, being that your occupation is doom maniac. But can you tell me why you chose MDB, again I want to know since your occupation says doom maniac.

The reason I chose MDB is I believe they have been more consistant with good albums. Don't get me wrong, Anathema and Paradise Lost are all solid bands with good records. But I love the atmosphere of sheer depression that MDB brings to the table. Paradise lost have indeed put out some good albums (Lost Paradise, Gothic) so have Anathema (Judgement, Alternative 4) But I find all of MDB's albums to be up to par with the last. I've heard all four well enough to judge too, but I guess this all to me depends on consistancy and sound. That's why I chose MDB

All these great Doom/Gothic Metal bands are all close behind each other but it goes like this.

3.Anathema

They all have fases... but the best all time, imo is Anathema... I like them until the Judgement...

As Mourn said, My Dying Bride are definitely the most consistent of the three, but I still like the others, and their newer stuff isn't that bad if you don't mind it being non-metal. Eternity (Anathema) is actually a great album, even though its not really metal, it still has that awesome depressing atmosphere, which is very good. My Dying Bride win though.

For me it took only one video clip to get me hooked on MDB, I believe it was Cry Of Mankind. The vocals, the music, and the clip itself really got me all sad.
So yes, I also voted MDB.

Ill go for Anathema....even though My Dying Bride are the only one who truly remained to their roots,the music that anathema makes now is heavenly...i must admit i like more their latest works,the softer side.....even though The Silent Enigma and Pentecost are two brilliant doom albums....

Three of my Favourite bands there. For me, My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost are tied for 2nd and 3rd. Anathema definitely takes the cake for me, I even like thier new, non-metal stuff.

My vote goes to My Dying Bride as well. They're the band that got me into Doom Metal, and also my favourite of the style. Anathema are also very good, but not quite in the league of My Dying Bride.

My Dying Bride are my favorite out of all three......All three bands though, I hold in high regard as the kings of Doom post 80's. the Death/Doom sound I am very open to.

With the 3 doom bands, it always ranked like this for me: MDB, Anathema, Paradise Lost.....PL being my least favorite...though I own the least of their albums out of all 3 bands....only having Lost Paradise, and Gothic, though I have heard some material off the other albums by PL, including their modern stuff.

Anathema I still liked pretty much up to their last album (A Fine Day to Exit), which I would have to give another spin after all of these years to see if it can even grow on me....

My Dying Bride I consider the most colorful out of all three bands, with great album after album, and great musicians, and Aaron's tortured genius of a throat for the band.
