Not exactly metal, but some of their songs have absolutely intense and technical sounding death metal riffs. This is totally out there music though. I mean death metal with a saxaphone solo??? Very wierd but I loved it... And im talking about the album Disco Volante if you want to check it out. The song "carry stress in the jaw" has good riffs with some saxaphone thrown in, also the song "Merry Go Bye Bye" has good riffs with drumming that just destroys. Check it out if you have an open mind...

Very strange band, hard to qualify indeed... we can even wonder whether it still is music ;D I have "California" which is rather cool.
In the same category there's CARNIVAL IN COAL (http://net.creator.free.fr/worry.mp3) and their Disco Death Metal :nana: They've even done a cover of Fame's MANIAC (http://net.creator.free.fr/maniac.mp3)

Great band. I love all of their albums, my favorite being probably the first one.
Fantômas is excellent as well, like many other projects with Patton (the last three John Zorn's opus for example, or the Kaada/Patton record.)

Mr. Bungle is amazing for me because they represent a side of metal that rarely gets attention. I'm a HUGE metal fan, but at the same time i like so many other genres of music. Sometimes when I hear a calypso or french pop song or anything non-metal worth listening to i'll think "wow, wouldn't it be so great if a blast beat came in right here?" or "i wish they would play a little faster." Mr. Bungle fulfills those desires and then some.

I have read about this cult band at the greek Metal Hammer magazine, but never heard any song of them. Must be nice. If anyone has any song of them for me to hear, I'd be more than happy to receive a PM for a link.

That's from the album "California"--the only one I have. I think the others sound like that though.

Not really in fact, "California" is the less weird and calmest album of their discography, but they all deserve to be bought. The debut album of the band "Mr Bungle" was the most "metal" maybe the easiest to hear, on the contrary the second "Disco Volante" is the most "progressive" and strange.
